In addition, zinnias as popular farm garden flowers provide food and nectar for insects such as bees, bumble bees and butterflies.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow thinly under-cover from mid-March in good quality seed compost. Only lightly cover the seeds with soil and keep them evenly moist. After the last frosts and when large enough to handle thin & transplant to trays and grow on under cooler conditions. For a bushy growth, pinch back young plants. Zinnias prefer a sunny, wind-protected location on a normal, loamy soil. They also cope well with short dry periods and you should avoid waterlogging.
