The colourful garden - an insect oasis

More and more sealed surfaces, grass gardens and low-maintenance green spaces can be found. The insects that are really important to us are often neglected. There is a lack of flowering gardens, great perennials and green strips with flower beds.
To give our insects more areas to forage, we can take action as early as spring.
Whether it`s great seed balls that can simply be spread all over the garden, early-flowering seeds or seeds for summer and late summer. The possibilities are endless.

But which plants do our insects like?

The favourite flowers of bees, bumblebees and butterflies:

In spring:

bees and bumblebees are incredibly fond of early bloomers, and crocuses and grape hyacinths are particularly popular with them.
Butterflies do not appear in the garden until a little later, so they are usually not yet visible during the early flowering period.

In summer:
bees, bumblebees and butterflies love lavender, butterfly bushes, sage, coneflower, catmint, lilac, dahlias, verbena, marigold, snapdragon, yarrow and forget-me-nots

Dahlias: A very popular plant in the garden, the unfilled variety provides plenty of nectar and pollen for bees and bumblebees.

Bellflower: This fairytale flower turns into a veritable sea of blossom in summer, with hundreds of beneficial insects gathering to collect pollen and nectar.

Verbena: Known as verbena, this flower is a classic in the garden and on the balcony. The flower is weatherproof and extremely popular with bees, bumblebees and other beneficial insects.

Snapdragon: The snapdragon can always be found in cottage gardens in particular, with its enchanting flowers making the garden colourful and lively.
The grape-shaped inflorescences also offer nectar hidden inside, which bees and bumblebees love to collect.

Lavender: The Mediterranean favourite that attracts all beneficial insects. Not only do butterflies, bees and bumblebees feel at home here, but also the popular pigeon tail often comes to visit.

Nasturtium: This plant is not just a highlight for beneficial insects, because the advantage of the beautiful nasturtium? Humans can also eat the delicious flowers.

Cornflower: The blue cornflower known from the edges of fields is a real centre of attraction for beneficial insects in your home garden.

Sunflower: Probably the largest and most popular plant for beneficial insects is the brightly coloured sunflower. Due to its late flowering period, it still provides sufficient food for the wonderful animals in the garden in late summer and autumn.
