Info: The Piment dEspelette Chili is a traditional and extremely flavourful variety from the French Basque Country. If they are grown in the area around Espelette, the AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée; Controlled Indication of Origin) quality label can be used. The bushy plants are very high yielding, and the thick-walled, juicy chillies ripen to a beautiful shiny red with a mild spiciness. Professional and hobby chefs as well as gourmet lovers around the world prize the typical flavour of the Piment dEspelette, which, in its region of cultivation is usually dried and made into the famous flavourful powder. They are also suitable for fresh consumption, for stuffing, cooking, grilling and filling. In France, pastes (coulis, compote), jams and mustards are often made from them.
Care: The germination temperature is between 20 und 28°C (8 - 20 day germination period), therefore the use of a greenhouse and a heating mat is recommended. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised, permeable soil, and do not tolerate waterlogging. They should be planted in a sunny, protected place with at least 6 hours of sunlight - preferably more. Put the plants outside approx. 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost. If you plant them outdoors, the plants should have a distance between them of 45 cm.

Also ich habe dieses Jahr das erste mal diese Sorte gewählt. Habe 10 Samen in einem einfachen Mini Gewächshaus gepflanzt. Alle 10 sind nach etwa 10 tagen ohne Matte auf der Fensterbank gekeimt und wachsen schön kräftig nach oben. Kann ich nur weiterempfehlen!
