Squash Gold Nugget Seeds
Info: `Golden Hubbard` is an attractive, slightly ridged orange pumpkin with a vigorous trailing habit and a good winter storage. The fruits weigh up to 3 kg and have a orange-yellow flesh of excellent flavour similar to the nutty taste of a sweet potato. In the US, it is the classic pumpkin for pumpkin pie, but it is also suitable for roasting and making desserts. It is difficult to peel because of its bumpy skin, this variety is best roasted with its skin on.
Sowing & cultivation: Pumpkin plants need a lot of space as creeping plants and a good nutrient supply. The soil should therefore be profound and nutritious. From mid-May can be sown directly into the open field. Depending on the variety a plant needs up to 2m² of space. Abundant irrigation is very important, especially in the beginning. A typical pumpkin problem are snails. Try as protection a thick ring of sawdust around the young plant. It should be fertilized with a few horns, four weeks later with full fertilizer. The harvest begins in September and lasts until the frost.
Distances: 1,5-2m row distance, in the row approx. 1m.
