Sweetcorn Red Diamant Seeds
Info: The corn `Red Diamond` is a beautiful heirloom variety with unusually wine red ears, which are ideal for decoration and crafting. Of course, the grains can be used to make a colourful red/pink popcorn or you ground the dried kernels for an excellent red corn flour for tortillas.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow from May on outdoors. Use a dibber to make 2.5cm holes and sow two or three seeds every 30cm with 45 cm between rows. Sweetcorn grows best if planted in large blocks. It likes free-draining, moisture retentive and nutrient-rich soil. The plants are shallow rooted: protection from winds and water loss in the soil is very important.
