Info: Rocket has a peppery nutty taste and is excellently suited for picking salad. Used fresh it adds a peppery note to salads. It is ideal as a bed for seafood but also makes a wonderful salad on its own. Cooked lightly it can be added to stir-fries, it also makes a delicious spinach substitute. Use leaves when they are young and tender for a hot tangy flavour, as they mature they become peppery and hot.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow outdoors successively between March to May or in September. Seed depth 6 mm with 3 cm apart in short rows about 20 - 30 cm apart. A rich soil is excellent for rocket, but the crop will also do well in average or limy garden soil. Fertilize the soil with compost or horn meal before sowing. Watering is essential, the plants need almost constantly moist ground as dry soil will cause the plants to put their energy into producing flowers.
