Carrot Autumn King Seeds
Info: This carrot is a real `Autumn King` as it is a favourite of home gardeners with a consistent deep red colour and conical roots that grow to around 25 to 30 cm long. It is one of the largest of carrots and last to mature with the potential to be the highest yielding of all.
Sowing & cultivation: Sow from Febuary under cloches or fleece. Can be sown outdoors as late as August. Sow them as thinly as possible, this reduces the amount of thinning necessary. Mix the seeds with a handful of sharp sand and sow the seeds and sand together. Plants should be kept well watered and carrots prefer a sandy, well-drained soil. Too much nitrogen will cause the carrots to grow hairy little roots all up and down the carrot.
