El Oro de Ecuador Chili Seeds
Info: The El Oro de Ecuador Chili from South America is a rarely offered variety. It belongs to the species Capsicum baccatum (tree chili). Therefore, the plants are relatively large (up to 1.50 m in the pot, and larger in the ground) and should be overwintered. The plants are prolific and the fruist are approx. 2 x 4 cm in size. They are elongated, slightly folded and have thick walls. They mature into a warm golden yellow and have in addition to their intense heat a sweet, fruity taste. They are suitable for cooking, sauces and salsas and for drying.
Care: The germination temperature is between 20 und 28°C (8 - 20 day germination period), therefore the use of a greenhouse and a heating pad is recommended. The plants need fresh, well-fertilised, permeable soil, and do not tolerate waterlogging. They should be planted in a sunny, protected place with at least 6 hours of sunlight - preferably more. Put the plants outside approx. 2 to 3 weeks after the last frost.
Tips for successful chili cultivation can be found in our Chili Cultivation Instructions and in the Chili Diary.

Very tasty
Very tasty and juicy chili, but requires a bit longer season than average varieties. Grows big, and likes bigger pot (20+ liters). Doesn't like neem oil.
